Wiz Khalifa was recently featured in the Washington Post. Here is a small excerpt.
This year’s Rock the Bells festival features no shortage of hip-hop heavyweights, many of whom will be revisiting their glory years by performing classic albums in full. Snoop Dogg resurrects his 1993 debut, “Doggystyle,” Wu-Tang Clan will re-enter the “36 Chambers” and A Tribe Called Quest will tackle “Midnight Marauders.” Rakim, KRS-One and Slick Rick take the nostalgia trip even further back into the ’80s.
But the all-day mega-show isn’t just a trip down memory lane. The lineup also includes performers who are just entering their prime and are positioned to be the superstars of a new generation of hip-hop. Wiz Khalifa is at the head of that class. (more…)
Last night (Aug. 19), Drake took to UStream to speak on his upcoming Light Dreams and Nightmares tour. During the broadcast, Drizzy said he wanted Wiz Khalifa to join him and Clipse on their national outing next month. XXLMag.com just got off the phone with the Pittsburgh MC, who says, though he’s honored, he respectfully declines, due to his own solo Waken Baken tour kicking off at the same time.
“Just the fact of cuz even extending his hand and me being on his radar is tight, to me,” he said. “It just lets me know that I’m doin’ what I need to be doin’ as far as stayin’ relevant and stayin’ poppin’. But I think to keep me poppin’ and keep me relevant I gotta stay buildin’ on top of what I’m doin’ and what I been doin’. No disrespect to cuz or anybody else who might wanna see me do some more collaborative things, but to keep buildin’ and keep my brand as strong as what it is, I gotta keep focusin’ on what it is. This is my first tour that I got comin’ up, the Waken Baken tour, I gotta at least kick that off and make that it what it is so we can do ten more.”
The 2010 XXL Freshman joked that when he can earn as much money as the Young Money star did last year, then they can tour. “I’m real happy for Drake and real proud of Drake, “ he said. “I was lookin’ on the Internet and that made $10 million this year. So maybe when I make $10 Million then we can tour. “
“We can do like some special dates or some surprise guest type thing, but I need 10 mil’, too, Drake,” he added laughing.
While Wiz won’t be on the bill for Light Dreams and Nightmares, he says he would love to meet the Canadian rapper/singer. “I really want to meet him and chop it up with him,” he said. “I wanna meet him, chop it up, smoke one with him and who knows what could happen. But it’s all positive right now.”
The Waken Baken tour will kick off on September 16 at Philadelphia’s Trocadero Theatre and will make two stops in Canada. Yelawolf and Big K.R.I.T. will make guest appearances as well.

In the latest issue of Honey Magazine, Wiz Khalifa gets the cover shot and discusses weed, women, and about taking over the game. Read more for the full interview (more…)
